Class Details

Join us on Tuesday evenings from 6:30pm-8:30pm and learn the basic silversmithing skills. During this FOUR week session from January 24th - February 21st. You will create two projects.

Project Details:

• Sterling silver wide hammered sheet formed ring band

• Bezel set cabochon stone pendant (chain not included)

All materials for the class will be provided. There will be two trays of stones to choose from to make your stone selection.

All you have to do is come and have some fun! Feel free to bring a notebook and take notes if you're a note taker. If you have long hair, you will be required to have it pulled back. For safety reasons, please avoid wearing loose clothing, scarves, etc as they can be a fire hazard.

Classes will take place at Hot Shops Art Center in Studio 220.

For all classes minimum age requirement is 16.

Classes are non-refundable.

What to Expect

In this class you will learn the basic skills of silversmithing. You will learn how to use a jeweler's saw and the basic sawing techniques. In addition, you will learn to shape, solder, file silver and set a stone while creating these two projects.

If you have long hair, you will be required to wear your hair back. As a safety precaution, do not wear loose clothing, scarves to anything with fringe of hanging strings as this is a fire hazard.

Directions

Hot Shops Art Center is located at 1301 Nicholas Street, Omaha, NE 68102. Classes will take place on the 2nd floor in studio 220. Parking is available on 13th Street and Izard Street. Enter through the large red door with the sculpture on top, then take your immediate right and head up the stairs to the 2nd floor. The studio is in the far back left corner.
