This pendant features a Sleeping Beauty turquoise. Sleeping Beauty turquoise is some of the most highly coveted turquoise. It is know for its solid bright blue hues and lack of dark webbing that can be found in most turquoise. Some Sleeping Beauty turquoise may have a light white webbing or pyrite inclusions.
The Sleeping Beauty mine, located in Globe, Arizona was originally mined for gold and copper until they discovered large pockets of this bright blue turquoise. It the 70s and 80s this mine produced massive amounts of turquoise. However production closed and the mine closed permanently in 2012.
