Intermediate Silversmith Class -- September 29th - October 20th

Class Details

Join in on TUESDAY evenings from 6:30pm-8:30pm for this intermediate level silversmithing class. This four-week session will take place from September 29th – October 20th.

THERE IS A PREREQUISITE FOR THIS CLASS! You must have completed at least one prior 4 week beginning silversmith class session. If you sign up and have not taken a prior class, your money will be refunded. If you have taken a class elsewhere, please message me prior to signing up to discuss your skill level to determine if you are eligible to take this class.  

Project Details:

  • Pair of copper form folders and fire painted copper earrings
  • Sweat soldered sterling silver pendant.

All materials for the class will be provided. 

Class requires pre-registration.

Classes will take place at Hot Shops Art Center in Studio 220.

All you have to do is come and have some fun! Feel free to bring a notebook and take notes if you're a note taker.

*** Please read the below information prior to registering for class.*** 

For all classes minimum age requirement is 16. However, if you are under the age of 18 you will be required to have a parent to take the class with you. 

Due to Covid, class size will be limited to 4 people in order to be in compliance with the 6 foot social distancing guidelines. All attendees will be required to wear a mask during the class. 

Classes are non-refundable.

NOTE: If you are affected by Covid or suspect that you may have it, please do not come to class!! Message or call me and we can make private arrangements to make up your class once your health is back to normal.  

If you miss any of your session and are unable to catch up and finish with the class, you will be able to make up the class during the available predetermined make up class time on Monday, October 27th from 6:30pm - 8:30pm. You must reserve a spot in this session as there are limited make up slots. If you are unable to make up the session at that time, there are a few other date options, however one-on-one makeup dates are not available at this time.  

What to Expect

In this class you will learn the basic skills of silversmithing. You will learn how to use a jeweler's saw and the basic sawing techniques. In addition, you will learn to shape, solder and file silver while creating these two projects. 

If you have long hair, you will be required to wear your hair back. As a safety precaution, do not wear loose clothing, scarves to anything with fringe of hanging strings as this is a fire hazard. 


Hot Shops Art Center is located at 1301 Nicholas Street, Omaha, NE 68102. Classes will take place on the 2nd floor in studio 220. Parking is available on 13th Street. Enter through the large red door with the sculpture on top, then take your immediate right and head up the stairs to the 2nd floor. The studio is in the far back left corner.
